Mummy it was the best day of my life!

Spa parties. Grown ups either love them or hate them. Some parents say "it's the best thing their child has ever experienced" to others who are utterly horrified that such a concept exists claiming they impact the natural development of children causing them to become self obsessed. Conservative society has even gone as far as saying "such parties are sexualising little girls and you are effectively teaching children to imitate adults".

The owner of TotallyPamper.me said: "I can't comment on how other spa/pamper businesses represent their services. I can only comment on how we do things at TotallyPamper.me.

A dab of child-friendly cream mask with childrens gel cucumber eye masks or unicorn masks, whilst their little feet are soaked in childrens footspa tubs filled with bubbles and pretty flowers is hardly mimicking the adult world.

Glitter dust and face shimmer is not going to convert a child into a make up monster. Under no circumstance do we use adult make-up since little girls (and even young teens) do not need to be cosmetically enhanced, which is what traditional make-up is used for.

I recently saw a childrens pamper party company highlighting their new MAC cosmetic range and I must admit, as a mother to two little girls, this alarms me as these are clearly adult make-up products designed for adult faces. Glitters, unicorn shimmer and gems is as far as we go. In my opinion, this does not equate to make-up which is why we refuse to freely use the term "make-up”. We only offer what we call ‘Shimmer & Shine’ which is a great, fun alternative. In fact, one could argue that face painting is a closer relative to make-up!

With regard to our flutes, our little clients are ecstatic when they get to hold our unicorn flutes filled with strawberry water whilst singing the happy birthday song during the 'red carpet Hollywood after-party'. This does not imitate adult drinking.

We do what we say on the tin. We like to make children feel pampered in the conventional sense. We convert their chosen room into a wow girly spa zone with fun colors and we make our little clients feel loved and special. We imitate a spa experience using strictly child-friendly water-based products. You can expect lots of fun, glitter, engagment, dancing, singing to child-friendly songs, fun props and we even offer a fun manual photo-booth with props. We send the parents a slideshow and a gorgeous printed hardback, keepsake photo-book. It's a lovely and very innocent concept that every child will want to try at some point in their childhood journey.

The girls enjoy every aspect from the relaxing spa meditation session, the treatments, bracelet making, popcorn, karaoke, ‘strike a pose’ and so on. Let's face it, it's a great deal more exciting than jelly and ice cream. I for one loved this concept so much that after I ordered a party for my daughter, I decided to create a revised 'child-friendly' brand concentrating on providing quality and lots of value as I was thoroughly disappointed with the service provider who charged me £380.

Businesses these days tend to be focused on making a profit and unfortuntely, quality is sometimes compromised. With so much competition about, us parents are simply looking for that ‘value’ which is something TotallyPamper.me take utmost pride in. The small attention really does matter! Not only do we aim to provide value for your money, to prove that we aren't counting pennies, and truely care for chidren, we donate generous profits to 'Cash for Kids' which is our afflicated childrens charity. It's great to say that our bookings really make a difference in disadvantaged childrens lives. (More information can be found under our charities link below).

As a mother for three, I can honestly say, girls are naturally more inquisitive of all things girly such as dressing up, princesses and so on. My son on the other hand is into action men and Starwars! My girls love pinks and pastels opposed to shades like green or navy blue. Glitter absolutely makes their eyes light up. Now I'm not trying to reinforce harmful gender stereotypes but most girls like girly things and of course, there are some that don't which is absolutlely normal and fine.

If you look into the psychology behind it, then perhaps society is to blame for shaping our childrens taste buds. There are plenty of arguments regarding gender parties, toys and products. I wonder, had I introduced my daughters to non-girly shades, kept them away from princesses, hearts, flowers, dollies and dressing up from birth, perhaps I'd have two toms on my hands. Or maybe not. Who knows?

My youngest potters around the room with her tiara headband on, my handbag on her arm and my heels on the wrong way around, honestly it's the most innocent and endearing show in the world. No one encourages her to do such things. She is simply role playing.

TotallyPamper.me events are just a natural progression in the world of role play and imagination. They aren't a everyday thing. Just like chocolate, they are designed to be a rare treat. You get pamper salons for dogs and pets and so what's wrong in engaging in some 'child friendly' pampering? Everything in controlled moderation. Let girls be girls and let them have fun!"
